“Remembering that what I see isn’t the final result. Knowing that down the line what I’m doing now is leading me to that level that I want to reach.”

Check out the interview with YoungCTheGreat exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.

Skilly: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
YoungCTheGreat:
I started rapping in 4th grade in Christiansburg, VA. Ever since I’ve been studying and learning the craft. All throughout high school I had been rapping and in the choir singing. After high school I knew that I wanted to pursue music so I auditioned at the Berklee School Of Music. I was accepted and there is where I met a producer named Unhappy Hank that I collaborated with on “For Da Breed.”

What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
Have faith. Things don’t come in a day. It takes patience and what you put in is what you will get out.

What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
Remembering that what I see isn’t the final result. Knowing that down the line what I’m doing now is leading me to that level that I want to reach.

We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
Word of mouth is always a great avenue, but as far as online it would be Facebook or Instagram for me. Whichever you feel most a connection with your audience.

Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
I’m from a small town. Not much of a hip hop music scene, but its progressing. The artists are dope and the fans that really mess with you are always supportive of your vision.

Where do you see yourself a year from today?
I see myself grinding ten times harder and having that foundation that I’ve been working for.

Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
Kanye has always been a big inspiration musically. Today I would say Big Sean and J. Cole are the artists I look to as the ones talking that real.

How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
I like the music right now has got a real dope energy, everybody doesn’t get just yet.
