“I was 14 going and lost a brother to a motorcycle accident. Shortly after, I lost another brother to a stabbing.”
Check out the interview with Young Picasso exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: Tell us where this all began. What is your history in the music scene?
Young Picasso: I was 14 going and lost a brother to a motorcycle accident. Shortly after, I lost another brother to a stabbing. I felt so lonely and only felt at ease writing my feelings.
What are the best ways to promote yourself as an artist? Any tips you can give us?
Networking is key. Just getting out there going to events meeting new people making vlogs and videos to your music people always want to see who’s behind the music.
What do you ultimately want to become in your career?
I want to become that person who gets a platform to try and help the world.
What is the hardest thing about being in the music business?
Getting heard. You need to work hard to build a fan base to get major exposure.
What is it like in your city? What is the music scene like, and how is it like living there overall?
I’m from Yonkers, NY the largest city in Westchester County. We have a lot of artists out here trying to make it. I’ve been trying to start some showcases out here because we have none. It’s pretty difficult to make it from here nobody has made it after DMX and the LOX.
What is some advice you can give and share to other artists who are still trying to come up?
Network a lot.
What is the best thing that’s ever happened in your career?
My career just started so everything is great. My first video, performance, and feedback has been wonderful.
Do you feel anyone can be successful now in today’s world of music?
Yes I believe anybody can be successful as long as you’re entertaining people and love to be entertained.
