“Still making music, bettering my brand, learning and maturing more as an artist, being a business man, having a label home, and having a line of clothing.”

Check out the interview with Rell Ka$h exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.

Skilly: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
Rell Ka$h:
I wrote my first song at the age of 12 and have been recording since 2011. I’ve met a lot of artists, producers, promoters, and managers. I’ve done shows throughout the city and was formerly signed to an indie label.

What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
Stay true to your craft, never give up, stay humble, stay positive, and never listen to the people that say you can’t do it.

What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
Making sure the fans appreciate your music, getting heard by the right people, and constantly coming up with music because you wanna do something different every time

We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
The internet is a very reliable source. Doing shows. Network around the city.

Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
Detroit is home of Motown, but in this generation everyone pretty much does their own thing. Fans choose who they choose and there’s a lot of dividing.

Where do you see yourself a year from today?
Still making music, bettering my brand, learning and maturing more as an artist, being a business man, having a label home, and having a line of clothing.

Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
My biggest inspirations are Tupac, Biggie, Nas, and Jay Z. The people I look up to today are J. Cole, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and Ice Cube.

How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
There’s some good music out here, but there’s also some bad music. I’m very neutral when it comes to today’s music.
