“Everything that promotes a positive message will prosper so that being said this music industry will change. It’s about timing and investing with the right people.”
Check out the interview with NickyD Da Vinci exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: Tell us where this all began. What is your history in the music scene?
NickyD Da Vinci: As a kid growing up in Middlesex County, VA I was the only child with a Sony Walkman on the playground in elementary school. In 2010 I decided to make a music career out of my gift from God at 17 years old. I began to write and record on a laptop with my close friends Ty-g and King Illy in 2011. With all the positive sacrifices I made investing in my calling, I received positive blessings even more.
What are the best ways to promote yourself as an artist? Any tips you can give us?
Have a loyal team, invest in a professional PR, make physical promo materials, invest in mixtape and single hosting, submit your product to all opportunities that you qualify for, and stay independent.
What do you ultimately want to become in your career?
Heard, successful, and loved.
What is the hardest thing about being in the music business?
Being independent in a corporate industry because you have to work and endure suffering for the success.
What is it like in your city? What is the music scene like, and how is it like living there overall?
My hometown is ran by Freemasons along with the counties beside it; the rich get richer and the poor get it how they live. There’s much hidden talent but only some reaches the surface. Living in Middlesex County is good if you’re retiring to be honest. The budget is weak for the community but we make a way. Catch me down the county in the canyon.
What are some of advice you can give and share to other artists who are still trying to come up?
You can do anything independently if you believe in yourself. Make sure your motives and message will prosper with truth. There is no box. Keep your soul and grind hard for it.
What is the best thing that’s ever happened in your career?
Spiritually awakening and becoming partnered with Himesh Patel aka DJ Sin (UK).
What is your inspiration?
Yahshua (Jesus) and Yhwh.
Do you feel anyone can be successful now in today’s world of music?
Yes, lies die off while the truth remains. Everything that promotes a positive message will prosper so that being said this music industry will change. It’s about timing and investing with the right people. Birds of the same feather flock together for a reason. We have the power to build an international independent mainstream.
