Check out the interview with Nic Withoutda E exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
Nic Withoutda E: My journey in the entertainment business began as a dream at the age of 14 and started taking shape at the age of 23. Around 2011, while residing in Charlotte, North Carolina, I signed on with my first management team and started to learn the business and how to navigate through it the right way. I continue to read and study successful Entrepreneurs that have made a name for themselves in the entertainment industry today.
What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
My biggest piece of advice is to always stay dedicated to your craft and motivate yourself to push through everyday obstacles with a positive state of mind. It’s your journey to take, so dictate the outcome of every move you decide to make and make sure it benefits the perception you intend to put out.
What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
As an aspiring indie artist the hardest challenges and task is maintaining a strong team that will help keep your brand engine running consistently. Building your foundation’s the key to being successful especially in an industry that switches up at any moment. You have to stay in tune with the trends while staying relevant to your growing fan base.
We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
The best way to promote and advertise my music’s through making a personal connection with your supporters. You want to put your brand in a position to keep your supporters engaged on a consistent basis through updates and live access to projects you have released or creating the hype to be released.
Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
Currently residing in Charlotte. The artists and fans are both one in the same. I say that because a majority of your fans are also artists themselves. The culture of the music scene’s grown rapidly since I started living here in 2006. With every new artists that establishes themselves, it’s only motivation for the next person to pursue their dreams.
Where do you see yourself a year from today?
A year from today I see myself on an ongoing international tour introducing the world to Nic Withoutda E and my debut project called Ladies First, an EP produced by The Legion.
Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
My biggest inspirations today are mostly family and entrepreneurs also aspiring to build their careers independently. I look up to successful leaders today who have set the tone on how to accomplish what you set out to through faith and belief in yourself.
How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
I embrace all of the various music being released today. I am very big on the music I listen to having positive substance and/or making you feel great about what’s to come in the future.
