“Learn as much about the business side. The talent usually comes naturally, so stay focused on the goal and the business, not just the talent. That would be my biggest piece of advice.”

Check out the interview with MoneyTrain Recordings exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.

SKILLY: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
MTR: It all started in 2012 when I was actually locked up. I was doing my last eight months of probation for a violation. My last night incarcerated I dreamed I was locked up again so when I got out I started MoneyTrain Recordings and have not been back to jail ever since.

What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
Learn as much about the business side. The talent usually comes naturally, so stay focused on the goal and the business, not just the talent. That would be my biggest piece of advice.

What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
Staying focused is hard. I say that because I feel like a person can be distracted very easily. There is too much distraction out there.

We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
With legit companies! I have been scammed before, so before I do business with anyone, I look them up on the better business bureau.

Where do you see yourself a year from today?
Not working a 9 to 5, and doing this music full time. I mean my job is cool, but the music is really where my passion is.

Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
As far as music goes, it is people like 2Pac and Biggie Smalls (may they rest in peace), Ghetto Mafia, E-40 etc. I look up to the futures they created. They created everything on there own and literally changed the entire game.

How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
Some of it is good, and a lot of its trash but, thats just my opinion. Haha!

Thanks! Where can we contact you and find you online?
