Skilly: How were you able to start your journey in the entertainment business? Where did this all start?
Mike Flame: I found somebody that had a studio and had his own business. So I took advantage of that and I started recording. I not in the entertainment business just yet.
What are some of the creative ways you use to promote your music?
The internet, going to radio stations, find any marketing strategies, look for music blogs, ads, etc.
How is the music scene like in your hometown? What do you like about it and what don’t you like?
The music scene is pretty good. I like how everybody’s getting noticed; people like Fat Trel, Shy Glizzy, Lightshow, and the most successful artist Wale.
Where do you think the future of music is going to be? How do you feel artists can be more a part of it?
I don’t know about that, I think artists can be a part of it by putting out good music and by gaining a larger audience.
What advice can you give to other upcoming artists and musicians trying to achieve success?
Keep grinding, stay focused, invest in yourself, surround yourself by positive people, save your money, and get inspired.
What inspires you to write your next song?
The stuff I go through personally, what happens around the world like the stuff that’s going on.
What are the steps you take to make a song?
Come up with a hook, a beat that matches the topic. Then I come up with the verses.
What do you think makes a great song?
A song where people can relate to it. Being a teacher and teaching through your music with a positive message and good vibe.
