“It’s a real scene out here. I like these performers on stage that will make you dance, laugh, clap hands, stomp feet, and more. It’s a very nice scene to be around and watch others as they do they thing.”

How were you able to start your journey in the entertainment business? Where did this all start?
METAPHYSICAL: It all started in the central valley of California as a rapper in high school wanting to be a professional. I was a troubled teen who ran away from home and went to 5 high schools in 4 years through adopted foster homes. Every high school I went to, except for Hanford, I found my lyrical ability was better than others. This was shown when an ex-professional football player connected me to a couple of deejays/producers in Fresno. We made music that went to vinyl. Having music on vinyl motivated me to move to L.A. and pursue this music industry.
What are some of the creative ways you use to promote your music?
I’m on my emails, Facebook, and Reverbnation. I used to make flyers and stick them up in businesses and street poles along popular streets for the youth and young adults, but this became expensive after a while for this starving artist.
What is the greatest challenge you face in today’s entertainment business? How do you overcome them?
Getting my music heard by the right contacts in order to get my music heard by a larger demographic has been difficult for this emcee who has been submitting demos since 1986. Unsolicited music gets no respect in today’s entertainment business, even if it’s the hottest sound in town. All I know to overcome this is to keep trying, literally a do or die situation.
How is the music scene like in your hometown? What do you like about it and what don’t you like?
I came to Hollywood from the countryside with big dreams. It’s a real scene out here. I like these performers on stage that will make you dance, laugh, clap hands, stomp feet, and more. It’s a very nice scene to be around and watch others as they do they thing.
But then you have the pay to play side of this town where you’re on stage wondering if you got all of your head count in so that you don’t have to pay the club manager for that night. Remember, I’m a starving artist; E.B.T. card in wallet.
Where do you think the future of music is going to be? How do you feel artists can be more a part of it?
I’m looking forward to schools adopting more music driven programs for children. I say this in a way where music is used more in school rooms than in certain rooms in school.
A lot more artist in today’s day versus 20 years ago are more health and fitness conscious giving us a stage as an example for the audience to follow. The artists can be more a part of this by simply being real in life and living a righteous way.
What advice can you give to other upcoming artists and musicians trying to achieve success?
What inspires you to write your next song?
I usually get a rhythm that comes to me first and then from that rhythm I create words off this new rhythm. I do have those moments in life where someone I know and myself goes through an incident that I must write about.
What are the steps you take to make a song?
Usually that rhythm comes 1st/Repeat this to myself till it then straight hurts/Then before you know it, new word then burst/Intro, body, conclusion do
What I just did was a 4 bar rhyme off of a 4/4 (4 quarter note beats per line) time signature starting off on the 2nd beat of the 4/4. Once I have that rhythm locked in my mind I can now create song information for this rhythm. It would be at this moment where I would jump out of my body and look around me and see what’s going on planet earth. I can now be inspired by a news stories or a local event or life event to write a song to.
What do you think makes a great song?
An excellent mastering job, no doubt.
