“Surround yourself with positive energy and make what you love a priority.”
Check out the interview with Luchy Bruskino exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
Luchy Bruskino: It all started back when I was 8 living in the Bronx with my mother. One day she came home with bootleg CDs which happen to be 2Pac and Biggie. From that point on I fell in love. I began writing all the lyrics down to memorize the songs and even recorded them on tapes.
What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
My biggest piece of advice I have for the youth trying to make it is to never give up on your dreams. Surround yourself with positive energy and make what you love a priority.
What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
I find myself always under pressure being that BDMent is my company. Trying to accomplish your dream isn’t an easy task. I stay on my toes and I’m always thinking about the next move. The only real challenge is keeping the fans happy by producing music while trying to maintain your life.
We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
I’ve tried almost every way to promote, but I believe you have to be consistent. Upload as much music as you can on music sites, sell merc, and do shows. Do this as if you have to, that’s what I’m currently in the mix of doing.
Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
I’m from New York. We have a lot of hot new artists coming out and I’m the only thing that’s missing. I lived in the Bronx but then moved to Harlem as a kid. To impress someone from NY is tough, so I had to always bring my A-game. As long as what you’re spittin’ is real, the fans will relate.
Where do you see yourself a year from today?
A year from today I will have achieved the goals I set for myself and will be in a better position. I will continue to grind and absorb more knowledge to better my company.
Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
My biggest inspiration is myself. I always felt I had to do better than the last time. I look up to successful people, any one that achieved their dream motives me to do the same.
How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
I like the music coming from my city. We have a lot of new hot artists making a name for themselves. Even the dudes that have been in the game are spittin’ fire.
