“I would like to tell any artists today that you can do what you want to do in this life, just don’t stop doing it until you make it.”
Check out the interview with L.i hits exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: Tell us where this all began. What is your history in the music scene?
L.i hits: I am an American entrepreneur, record producer, rapper, singer, songwriter, and CEO. I founded the hip hop music label XIX95 Record’s and created the clothing fashion lines KING, 1995, and XIX95. I started my music career in 2009 and signed myself to my own record label. I later left my old self to reinvent my style. I am working on an album titled Alicia, it is set to release sometime in 2017.
What are the best ways to promote yourself as an artist? Any tips you can give us?
What I do to promote myself is give away my mixtape but still sell my CD.
What do you ultimately want to become in your career?
I would like to be someone in life. I would like to say that I did something in my life. I would like a record deal first, then make my own label and start my own business.
What is the hardest thing about being in the music business?
The hardest thing right now is that everybody has talent, everybody has their thing, and everybody can say that they are somebody. With the internet today everyone can make it.
What is it like in your city? What is the music scene like, and how is it like living there overall?
My city is small, Fennville, MI, but the people have big dreams. Everybody is crazy with the music, different types of music. I lived in my city for 19 years, it’s not hard but it’s not easy. There is a lot of hustle, but I put my music in the hustle.
What are some of advice you can give and share to other artists who are still trying to come up?
I would like to tell any artists today that you can do what you want to do in this life, just don’t stop doing it until you make it. Anything in this world is possible. If you’re bigger than your friend, good; don’t help him even though it’s your friend because your friend won’t help you if he makes it.
What is the best thing that’s ever happened in your career?
The best thing that ever happened to me is everything in my life.
What is your inspiration?
My inspiration is my dad because he was a musician when he was a youngster in Mexico. Now when he sees me on the stage he always gives me advice in how to hype the crowd.
Do you feel anyone can be successful now in today’s world of music?
I feel that everybody can make it, with the internet today everyone can make it.
Where can we find you on social media?
