“Always stay true to what you want in life. Stay focus on the goals and do not listen to people that try to pull you from it.”
Check out the interview with Timeless Sounds, LLC exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
SKILLY: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
T.S: Timeless started back in 08 as a band. We started with 4 musicians and couldn’t think of a name for ourselves. We all decided to think of a name and couldn’t think of one. While my business partner and I were at work, the drummer texted or called us and asked, what about Timeless Band? We immediately said yes, that’s it! Funny thing is we only had one gig then. Then the drummer and bass player end up moving to Columbia, SC. Gabriel and I (J.R.) didn’t feel bad about it because we loved creating music and so we decided that we can make money another way and that was by becoming a production company called Timeless Productions, to now Timeless Sounds. Music that’s never-ending or changing.
What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
Always stay true to what you want in life. Stay focus on the goals and do not listen to people that try to pull you from it. First, keep God as your head and seek him every day for guidance.
What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
Our hardest task is keeping clients. Meaning we would get a good bit of clienteles to want to record, and then we would get into a slump. They would say they are out of money. (Laughs)
We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
I believe the best way to promote now is the Internet or Social media. Everything is online now. Another thing which is old but still valid, word of mouth, business cards and staying involved with Music events.
Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
Although we are from different cities surrounding Charleston, we all have our uniqueness. I’m from Goose Creek and Gabriel is from Adams Run. Goose Creek is 15-20minutes from downtown Charleston and Adams Run is about 25-30min. So we claim Charleston because we surround it and know many people in the area and surrounding areas. Charleston has its perks. There still work to be done. We’re growing and there are artists tapping into the mainstream of the music world. There are some artists that are getting a buzz and good support from their local fans. Like is said previously, we’re growing.
Where do you see yourself a year from today?
We are pushing to have more work on the radio but by next year, on national radio versus local. We are also working on ways to have money work for us so that we can push towards working full time in our business
Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
Our biggest inspiration is when we see people who have made it far in whatever it is they do and they persevere through their tough situations and never gave up and is continually pushing for more. Man, there are so many and we would say from our parents, certain family members and celebs that are for real about God and is succeeding at life.
How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
Some music we do like and there are some that make you wonder how people really get into it.
