“Success is a long process and a lot of people overlook the things you have to do to achieve success.”
Check out the interview with Bugatti Musik exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: How were you able to start your journey in the entertainment business? Where did this all start?
Bugatti Musik: I was able to start my music career through hard networking. I trained myself traditionally with a small percussion background as a kid. It all started when I moved to South Atlanta. I messed around with music for a while and always was in the house making beats. My mom thought it was crazy how talented I was and never complained. So I invested in my own personal equipment.
What are some of the creative ways you use to promote your music?
I promote my music through me. I do a lot of snap chatting and I post a million and one Instagram videos. I also go to local beat competitions and network events. I submit my music to DJs and a lot of artists spread my music and beats with good feedback via word of mouth.
What is the greatest challenge you face in today’s entertainment business? How do you overcome them?
The biggest challenge we and I face as an artist is consistency in networking. I go through spurts of heavy networking and then I go through droughts of absorbing the industry. I overcome a lot of the challenges simply through faith. I pray for better ways and routes to success. Traditionally a Christian, I tend to turn to my lord and savior through any obstacles.
How is the music scene like in your hometown? What do you like about it and what don’t you like?
The music scene in Atlanta is insane. There are tons of eager artists working and with legit music. Music is big in the A and being on top of your game is as well. I like the energy that all artists from Atlanta bring. We have honestly changed the sound of the game.
Where do you think the future of music is going to be? How do you feel artists can be more a part of it?
The future of music is constantly evolving. It’s going in a direction that’s unplanned and for the better. The sounds are better and the quality is better. Artists can be more a part of it simply by implementing their own styles. Creativity and originality and versatility is the key.
What advice can you give to other upcoming artists and musicians trying to achieve success?
The advice I can give to other artists is simply to remember where you came from and staying true to your nature. Success is a long process and a lot of people overlook the things you have to do to achieve success. “Trust the process” has always been my motto to reference.
What inspires you to write your next song?
When I write my songs it’s either off of impulse and an experience or thought. My songs are strictly based off of moods.
What are the steps you take to make a song?
I don’t have any set steps I typically make a beat, listen to it, and go from there. The sequence is smoke hookah, brainstorm, make a beat, and then lace a song.
What do you think makes a great song?
A great song I think needs legitimate substance. Meaning, creativity, and most of all energy.
