“Touring is still the best way to promote yourself, so go out and tour as much as you’re able.”

Silly: Tell us where this all began. What is your history in the music scene?
Velvet Insane:
It all began in the summer of 2013. I didn’t have a band and all I had was a name and a couple of songs and a dream about being in a band who would be bigger than the earth itself. And then I just met Jonas (vocals) and we hit it off right away, started to write some more songs, and recorded some demos and an EP. Then Tobias (drums) and Niklas (bass) joined us, we recorded 2 more EPs pretty fast and got out on a tour that took us everywhere.

What are the best ways to promote yourself as an artist? Any tips you can give us?
I would say touring. Touring is still the best way to promote yourself, so go out and tour as much as you’re able.

What do you ultimately want to become in your career?
We always want to be better: better songwriters, better live performers. Always move forward and be better in any way there is. Besides that, tour even more, be out the whole year and just create art on stage and see the world.

What is the hardest thing about being in the music business?
Hmm … that’s a hard question. These days I think it is to survive on your art. You can’t survive on just writing songs, so release a record like the old days. You have to tour like crazy, but that’s also what we want to do.

What is it like in your city? What is the music scene like, and how is it like living there overall?
We live in a town call Östersund in the north of Sweden. The music scene here … I don’t think there is one. Before metal was very big here, the melodic variation, but that’s gone too.

What are some of advice you can give and share to other artists who are still trying to come up?
You mean come up in music business? Be out touring, you need to give it everything you’ve got. You need to hold on. Be out there and just keep going, and most of all don’t ever give up.

What is the best thing that’s ever happened in your career?
The best thing is that we get a chance to do this, to be out and see the world, to meet a lot of people, to play our music, and that people listen and like it. That’s the best thing.

What is your inspiration?
To write music. It’s different every time, but life is the answer. Everything that life is love, death, passion, etc. … everything.

Do you feel anyone can be successful now in today’s world of music?
Yes, of course you can be and people are. You have to give everything you’ve got and never give up. You can become the biggest artist in the whole world still, even if the record sales aren’t what they were 20 years ago. You have to tour more, you have the find ways. But yes, you can be.
