“The best thing that could ever happen to my career is me having fun and meeting new people. The gift God has given me is used to bless others. As long as people are blessed from what I do, I know God is pleased with me. That’s the best thing that could happened to my career.”
Check out the interview with Seed”Da Messenger exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: Tell us where this all began. What is your history in the music scene?
Seed”Da Messenger: It all begin for me back in 2006 when I gave my life over to God. I learned what the devil was doing in music. I felt it was needed for me to do something about it. That’s why I’m here now. I don’t really have much history in the music scene. I’m still growing and still learning more about how and what to do.
What are the best ways to promote yourself as an artist? Any tips you can give us?
I promote myself on Facebook and on Twitter where more things are trending. I also like to get involved in events and opportunities that are going to get me more exposure.
What do you ultimately want to become in your career?
Someone who could open doors for other people, mainly the youth. It won’t hurt to see the youth receive and not be taken advantage of. That’s why I’m growing and chasing god.
What is the hardest thing about being in the music business?
The hardest thing about being in the music business is that it’s hard to get your sound out there where there’s so many people out there with great skills and talents.
What is it like in your city? What is the music scene like, and how is it like living there overall?
I’m from Norfolk, VA. It’s a rough places to live. What’s the music scene like here? To be honest, Hampton roads are filled with a lot of artists that are ready for the world to discover them. You have it all here, from gospel, rap, soul, and r&b. It just needs some light shined on the city other then what’s been reported.
What are some of advice you can give and share to other artists who are still trying to come up?
Stay focused, work hard, read a lot to keep your mind fresh with wisdom and knowledge. Invest in yourself, grow your own ideas, try new things, and step out the box. My favorite phrase is “we have nothing to lose but Christ to gain.” Trust God with your talents.
What is the best thing that’s ever happened in your career?
The best thing that could ever happen to my career is me having fun and meeting new people. The gift God has given me is used to bless others. As long as people are blessed from what I do, I know God is pleased with me. That’s the best thing that could happened to my career.
What is your inspiration?
The will of God for my life. The youth needs leaders that can stand up and fight for what God intended for us to have or do. Jesus died for us to live and be free, not bound.
Do you feel anyone can be successful now in today’s world of music?
All I can say is trust god, work hard, and chase your dreams or goals. The sky’s the limit. Learn your craft and don’t be afraid to lose because you will gain if you don’t give up.
