SKILLY: How were you able to start your journey in the entertainment business? Where did this all start?
R.F: I was taught how to produce beats at the age of 13 by an instructors Christopher Guillot of Cherry Sound Recording Studio. I learned with Cubase and Reason. From there my drive for music hasn’t stopped. Now I engineer and produce. I’m a singer-songwriter, and rapper as well I dabble in a lot of other things, film, art, Designing clothing, Etc.
What are some of the creative ways you use to promote your music?
Staring out I never really knew how to promote my music just thought of putting it out and that was it, but recently my team and I came up with a few ideas on how we should promote our music but I think the one that stuck out to me the most throwing an exclusive gathering where we hand-pick people to come and enjoy a night socializing and listening to industry music along with our music.
What is the greatest challenge you face in today’s entertainment business? How do you overcome them?
Getting people engaged on social media when I promote a certain song I’m dropping, I think how I kind of overcome it I’ll go live sometimes on Instagram and show them how I recorded the song get them a little involved.
How is the music scene like in your hometown? What do you like about it and what don’t you like?
I’m originally from Sacramento, CA, but living in Denver, CO the music scene is growing after so long there are some talented people from here but the thing I don’t like about it is that it is really easy to get blacklisted out especially if you never grew up with the people that are already popping out here.
Where do you think the future of music is going to be? How do you feel artists can be more a part of it?
I think the future of music is going to continue to evolve especially hip hop and I think how hip-hop artists can become apart of it is continuing to be alternative with music keep expanding the waviness.
What advice can you give to other upcoming artists and musicians trying to achieve success?
Keep your drive for what you love alive, keep striving for greatness, you were brought into this world though you may have gone or is going through an obstacle you were brought into this world to change the world leaving your mark and behind a legacy keep grinding for your greatness.
What inspires you to write your next song?
There was a situation that I was told about, and my name was involved in and my name was mentioned to this person more than once so my big brother was trying to get a segment placement on an online radio show out in Denver but the person shut it down and was like, “If you can’t pay for your placement and don’t support us, you don’t have a placement.” I really didn’t have no interest in being on that show in any way, shape, or form.” This lead to me staring out writing a verse at work to day after, after I got home I went searching for a beat for this in my catalogue I couldn’t find anything that would compliment my lyrics some I searched online came across a beat produced by Kid Ocean next thing I knew magic began to happen I laid my verse and that was it I didn’t know what to do for the hook so my team (Avatar Vaughn & SAVO) came through and I showed them the song And I asked SAVO to write the hook for this song, I thought he was going to lay the hook but he had Avatar Vaughn lay it came together perfectly. The song is Titled ‘For The Year’ Feat. Avatar Vaughn [Prod by. Kid Ocean] I’m going to release it 03.22.18.
What are the steps you take to make a song?
I start off with all my back vocals than end with the main, or I lay my verses than The hook. I am very unorthodox when it comes to a certain way of making songs.
What do you think makes a great song?
Real situation, real emotion, creative mindset, watching great show’s, or movies, and great vibes.
