SKILLY: How were you able to start your journey in the entertainment business? Where did this all start?
C: It all started back in 2001 when I started recording in the room with a few friends. It took a turn for the better in the last few years because I’ve taken every step toward writing music Investing into my own studio & recording my own music.
What are some of the creative ways you use to promote your music?
I have several ways to promote my music. Internet Radio stations, Numerous blog sites. I also use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Reverbnation. There’s no limit to the platforms for your music. Word of mouth is cool too.
What is the greatest challenge you face in today’s entertainment business? How do you overcome them?
There are many of challenges involved in this entertainment business like meeting the right producers for the content I create. I never stop looking for the right sound for me.
How is the music scene like in your hometown? What do you like about it and what don’t you like?
We have a small underground music scene in Los Angeles. Plenty of local talent showcasing skills at small venues. I like most of the music our locals artist create, but we lack the right outlet in Los Angeles to gain exposure.
Where do you think the future of music is going to be? How do you feel artists can be more a part of it?
It’s changing daily with so many different artists from different walks of life. There’s more internet artist showing amazing talent for the music lovers. I think an artist can be more part of it by using social media to network & build followers, rather than use the old sell out your trunk method. The internet is the new streets nowadays.
What advice can you give to other upcoming artists and musicians trying to achieve success?
Do as much as you can on your own. Find a sound that fits what you create and never rely on anyone to do that for you. Find what benefits you as producers, promoters & engineers. Today is the day for Indie artist so just be yourself.
What inspires you to write your next song?
Whatever I’m going through at the moment brings inspiration. Mainly current events that I turn into art. Along with a nice sound for whatever I’m creating. Let’s just say Beats & Life events.
What are the steps you take to make a song?
I usually have the idea in mind, then write based on whatever subject. Or I may have a feeling about something that brings creativity to life. Now, on the other hand, I’ll listen to a track, then based on the sound I’m hearing write how I feel.
What do you think makes a great song?
I think its a combination. A great beat, with a great melody that enables the Artist to put his best bars forward. What I’ve noticed nowadays, is the simple hooks and simple lyrics making hits.
