Skilly: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
O’Mega Red:
It all started when I was seven years old. I was watching TV and saw an old man playing the saxophone. I told my mother that I wanted to play that. Next week my mother bought me a Bundy saxophone and I have been playing it ever since. My Journey in the entertainment business is far from over. I feel like I’m on a new chapter as we speak.

What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
When giving advice I remember a quote I once heard, “Hard work will beat out talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” For all of the young kids out there trying to live their truth, know that your work ethic must be insane if you want to be successful in this business and you must be willing to sacrifice.

We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
Having a real publicist is key for promoting and advertising my music. Also creating alliances with record promoters and marketing teams that will get your music placed on credible and high traffic blogs. Social media such as Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook is crucial. This is where you build your community of a core fan base.

Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
I’m from Boston, MA and it is a very competitive city in all aspects of music, sports, and life. I now live in Buffalo, NY and it is in its renaissance stage. I’m building a music scene that’s much more diverse than what people have grown accustomed to. I’m pushing the culture forward and enhancing the vibe of the music industry.

Where do you see yourself a year from today?
A year from now I see myself in the second phase of my plan. I have planted the seeds and I am seeing them starting sprout. I can’t give away all my secrets, I have to protect my vision. Like Snoop Dogg says, “The game is to be sold, not to be told.”

Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
In today’s world I look up to my dad. He has a plethora of knowledge and has made me the man I am today. He continues to guide me and bestow me with knowledge and wisdom. Also for inspiration I look to my jazz band teacher. She is in the industry and taught me the basic foundation of music which has allowed me to cross all genres effortlessly.

How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
I feel that there is a lot of great music coming out today. I’m a musician so I appreciate all genres and all styles. I will forever be a student of music.
