“No, I don’t even listen to the radio. I focus on my own music to stay unique and true to my heart. I feel bad the music today isn’t about inspiring and uplifting people.”
Check out the interview with Nate Evans exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
Nate Evans: I’m a singer, songwriter, producer, and director who’s developed a sound that’s true to my heart. Coming from a dark place in life, I’ve been able to turn my life around and inspire others through music. I pour immeasurable passion into every song I write and perform and approach the world as my own personal stage. Fueled by the hunger that so many lack, I see no limits.
What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
Make sure this is your dream and passion. Never give up no matter how hard it gets. And most of all be proud of the work you do. Never change for anybody
What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
Doing everything solo requires strict time management. And having to learn how to do new things can be challenging yet very rewarding. Directing my own music videos, finding the location, making sure everyone can show up on that day, editing the footage, promoting the video – that’s one of many things.
We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
My personal Facebook page has been the best way. Being connected to the people who really know me; family, friends, and fans. People want to know the real you.
Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
My city is small. My fan base is mainly overseas in Japan, Germany, and the UK. My goal’s to head overseas.
Where do you see yourself a year from today?
2 new albums and 3 new music videos; more media exposure, hopefully my first show overseas; and opening for a major artist.
Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
I have always followed my dreams keeping God first. My family and friends supporting me along the way. And staying clear of the haters. I look up to positive recording artists who are true to themselves and aren’t selling out. One of my favorites is Robyn. I love her work and hope to work with her one day soon!
How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
No, I don’t even listen to the radio. I focus on my own music to stay unique and true to my heart. I feel bad the music today isn’t about inspiring and uplifting people.
