“In college I won a greatly contested talent show which was awesome. ‘Party House II’ the track from my debut album ‘Incredulous’ has had great reviews and has been played around the world. I believe I will win the IMA 2017 awards for best song which is ‘Party House II’ and look forward to that!”
Check out the interview with Nat Berhanu exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: Tell us where this all began. What is your history in the music scene?
Nat Berhanu: I got started in music at 8. I am a self-taught piano, guitar, and keyboard player. I continued through participating at church and school, all the way through college. I also auditioned for Britain’s got talent. Unfortunately as the letter stated, they could not understand my talent.
What are the best ways to promote yourself as an artist? Any tips you can give us?
What do you ultimately want to become in your career?
I want to become a great source for inspiration across the globe.
What is the hardest thing about being in the music business?
It’s hard to be you. It is also a challenge to create and be unique with your own style.
What is it like in your city? What is the music scene like, and how is it living there overall?
I live 8 miles from Birmingham, England. The birth place of groups like UB40, Steel Pulse and other entertainers. London isn’t that far either. Both have great music scenes, the later the greatest. Manchester is also close by.
What is some advice you can give and share to other artists who are still trying to come up?
Be yourself and do not be like everyone else. Both in your art and as individual. Inspire people and the return will be great.
What is the best thing that’s ever happened in your career?
I’ve had great moments in different stages. In college I won a greatly contested talent show which was awesome. ‘Party House II’ the track from my debut album ‘Incredulous’ has had great reviews and has been played around the world. I believe I will win the IMA 2017 awards for best song which is ‘Party House II’ and look forward to that!
What is your inspiration?
It is seeing people who have maintained their self in the entertainment industry, their style etc.. Icons like Michael Jackson and Prince, people like that they inspire me. They are the best at what they did.
Do you feel anyone can be successful now in today’s world of music?
It depends what level of success. Is it to win awards or to make money? Each individual would have to determine that themselves.
Where can we find you on social media?
