Warner Bros. has announced a development deal with producer Tavis Smiley that first will see two of his books being adapted for the small screen.
One of them includes the upcoming Before You Judge Me: The Triumph And Tragedy of Michael Jackson’s Last Days, which chronicles the late icon’s final days.
According to Deadline, the book — which is set for release in June 2016 — will recount the final 16 weeks of Jackson’s life, when the superstar was prepping an ambitious series of comeback concerts titled “This Is It.”
Smiley’s book promises to offer a “vibrant account” of those last days and the controversies surrounding his deal. It will also serve as the basis for an upcoming series, slated to air next June.
