“My work ethic is crazy, my dedication is so strong for success. My label that I’m signed under thinks the same way. Visual Mindz Productions is all about changing this world.”

Check out the interview with Low 2 Cold exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.

Skilly: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
Low 2 Cold: This music started for me at the age of 5 when I started to play the drums. I dropped my talents with music and picked it back up this past summer (2015) at the age of 22. My life changed and I had an epiphany on how I could reach my goals. I have completed a couple milestones in my first year of being an artist including signing to an independent label called Visual Mindz Productions.

What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
My biggest advice would be to follow your heart. There will be some tough times that things don’t seem to fall through like how it was planned, but it will always work out for your good. I would also tell them to keep in mind the prize and don’t allow anyone to steal your success from you. People will always have something to say. Use the negative words as motivation to fuel your drive.

What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
For me it’s personal growth. I pride myself on becoming the best person I can be every day. That’s not the easiest thing. Also knowing who is legit around me. Today there are a great number of people who try to seem like they’re your family but are the complete opposite. It’s tough out here in this world we live in.

We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
The best way I think to market yourself is to establish an online presence and find a formula that works for you. There are plenty of different ways you can attack this. Do your research. Become a student of the game before you play. You can reach more people with the click of a button versus in your streets handing out mixtapes.

Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
My city is a small town that’s growing with a lot of talented artists. The thing is we just need to come together as one and make our city jump like Atlanta. The artists here are kind of moving in their own directions and we need to start a whole local movement. We have the potential to be great, it’s all in a matter of time.

Where do you see yourself a year from today?
In a year I see myself making major moves. Judging my progress from when I started I have completed things some artists can’t or things that take them much longer. My work ethic is crazy, my dedication is so strong for success. My label that I’m signed under thinks the same way. Visual Mindz Productions is all about changing this world.

Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
My biggest inspiration is Logic and Dizzy Wright, both are dope with their talents. What I love about those guys is that they’re trying to change the world we live in and not necessarily fit in. Plus I can connect with those guys, they are great people. Shout out to them.

How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
No not most of it. I can appreciate the work the artist puts in to create it. But to be honest, it’s not what I would listen to in my spare time. It doesn’t do anything for me. Half of their lyrics don’t describe them as a person. As emcees and rappers we’re supposed to tell stories, not make up stories. I’m into the real emcees of this day and age.
