“I feel like artists should be a part of it by showing the world something new besides popping bottles and strip clubs. I’m not going knock, that’s just what most rappers talk about.”
Check out the interview with KED exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: What are some of the creative ways you use to promote your music?
KED: By networking with others that focus on music with social media and family and friends.
How is the music scene like in your hometown? What do you like about it and what don’t you like?
There’s not that many artists, just me and one more that are trying to become a rapper. I like it because my music can relate to the struggle where I live and give people where I live hope and not to give up in life. I don’t like how in a small area it’s hard to come up as an artist with a lot of hate, but that comes with the rap game.
Where do you think the future of music is going to be? How do you feel artists can be more a part of it?
I think my future is going to be good. All artists are different and there’s a lot of young talent like myself trying to make moves in the rap game. I feel like artists should be a part of it by showing the world something new besides popping bottles and strip clubs. I’m not going knock, that’s just what most rappers talk about.
What advice can you give to other upcoming artists and musicians trying to achieve success?
Just to keep going and don’t let nothing stop your dream even when times get hard because the devil’s going to run your way when good things trying to happen. And don’t get caught up in all the hype and focus on you as an artist.
What inspires you to write your next song?
By looking at what’s going on in today’s world and seeing my family struggle. It gives me a boost to write good songs.
What are the steps you take to make a song?
By doing my hook first and see if it gets people’s attention. Then I have my producer make a custom beat and work on it until it sounds good to put out.
What do you think makes a great song?
Taking your time and being real.
