“The hardest thing I would have to say is getting yourself to a big enough platform where a lot of people really know who you are and what your music is about.”

Check out the interview with Kang Apolow exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.

Skilly: Tell us where this all began. What is your history in the music scene?
Kang Apolow:
I started writing poetry my junior year of high school and then I eventually turned into me writing rap music. I started recording music with some of my friends my senior year and ever since then I’ve been going strong. Then in 2014 I met my brother King Buzz the Don through another mutual friend and now we have the Team Ambition Music Group and our own label Dream Teams Records.

What are the best ways to promote yourself as an artist? Any tips you can give us?
Let the people know I’m a passionate artist on the come up. A growing artist who’s destined to leave a mark in the music world.

What do you ultimately want to become in your career?
What I really want to do is just help change somebody’s life through music and one day be in a position to put other people in the position to win. And just make timeless music.

What is the hardest thing about being in the music business?
The hardest thing I would have to say is getting yourself to a big enough platform where a lot of people really know who you are and what your music is about.

What is it like in your city? What is the music scene like, and how is it like living there overall?
It’s a small city with a lot of starving artists. The music scene here is growing. A lot of people won’t support until you have something big happen. It’s okay, I’ll always love my city.

What are some of advice you can give and share to other artists who are still trying to come up?
Continue to grind and put in the work. Always be creative. Listen to the people who are always there from day one. Get your music copyrighted. Always be you. Have fun doing what you do and the money will come later.

What is the best thing that’s ever happened in your career?
One of the greater moments I have had in my career so far is having one of my songs on the radio and it received a lot of love.

What is your inspiration?
My inspiration is just the love of music and how it can really speak to a person. All the music that I do is for the people. I just want to see people vibrate higher and make the best out of life.

Do you feel anyone can be successful now in today’s world of music?
I feel like it’s a real challenge to be successful in the music world, but if it’s something that you really want and you give everything to it and you work for it there’s no limit to what you can do.
