“I’m reintroducing myself, so just be consistency, focused and don’t get caught in the hype.”

Check out the interview with Jaydee Tha 1 exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.

SKILLY: Tell us where this all began. What is your history in the music scene?
Jaydee: I’ve been rapping since the 5th grade but industry-wise in 05 and in 07 when I was with a label and we dropped a compilation which I’m not saying the name, I didn’t like the way the CEO handle the artist or the label. It was a lot. I only care about certain artists and nobody else.

What are the best ways to promote yourself as an artist? Any tips you can give us?
The best way I see is to get your hands dirty get out and show your face at these events you can’t depend on social media to get you heard everyone is not your Facebook friend and everyone is not your follower.

What do you ultimately want to become in your career?
One of the best to do it. I’m not saying I’m going to be the greatest but I’m trying to be one of the tops only time will tell.

What is the hardest thing about being in the music business?
Getting your name buzzing around the game has so many people in it right now that its hard to get a following but hard work pays off. Stay at it always a yes within a no.

What is it like in your city? What is the music scene like, and how is it like living there overall?
Sacramento, CA, the music scene is dope. A lot of artists are doing it right now to many to name but I’m loving the music scene out here as far as living its like everywhere else its some politics but I love it.

What are some of the advice you can give and share with other artists who are still trying to come up?
I know the struggle plus I’m in the same boat. I’m reintroducing myself, so just be consistency, focused and don’t get caught in the hype.

What is the best thing that’s ever happened in your career?
NOTHING FOR REAL FOR REAL. Like I said, I was with that label but more of a team playing staying behind the scenes helping people but at the same time getting my name known. I was under a different name but you know what the best thing is leaving that label and starting my Cutting Edge Music.

What is your inspiration?
Real life events the struggle and seeing and going through things in life you got to be able to touch peoples heart all that other stuff only gonna get you so far straight up!

Do you feel anyone can be successful now in today’s world of music?
Yes I do but it goes back to being real and touching people you can’t follow the trend of whats but it’s only going to trend for so long and when it’s gone what are you going to do? think about it

Where can we find you on social media?
