According to TMZ, Chris Brown applied for permission to enter the country on a working visa but Japanese officials flagged him and denied him entry due to the open investigation into a gun charge from last month. Japan has a low tolerance for admitting visitors with criminal backgrounds and open cases. He is scheduled to play the Tokyo International Forum on Sept. 26-27.

Late last month Brown was involved in an hours-long standoff with the LAPD after a woman claimed he pulled a gun on her while hanging out at his Tarzana, CA home. He was arrested and released on $250,000 bail.

This isn’t the first time Brown has had visa troubles. Last December he was forced to cancel his tour in Australia after being denied entry due to his infamous Rihanna assault conviction.
