“Keep pushing for your dreams no matter what the world throws at you. Don’t say you can’t do it if you never tried.”
Check out the interview with Ghost u like it i love it exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
Ghost u like it i love it: Music has always been a love for me. My career in music all started with me doing choir concerts with the schools I attended. Then I met artist Duceplaya when I was 14 who encouraged me to start doing music with him. We made a group together called Reborn hustlers. As time passed we went our separate ways in music to do our own solo careers.
What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
My best advice is life is life, live life, love life, and never lose yourself in it. Keep pushing for your dreams no matter what the world throws at you. Don’t say you can’t do it if you never tried. Always believe in yourself and don’t let anyone take that away from you.
What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
Running my own label and handling everything alone. Dealing with artists’ projects who don’t give a 100%.
We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
Going out and using word of mouth so people can connect with me instead of just saying you’re just another guy doing music. I feel if you can connect with them they will find a deeper love for your music because there is an image of the person they connected with.
Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
I’m in Misawa, Japan at the moment. Japan has a talented bunch of artists and the fans are so nice and amazing. If you love your fans, your fans will love you.
Where do you see yourself a year from today?
I see myself still in my studio making music and enjoying life with my beautiful family in Misawa. I’m working on new projects with Jason Howard (Duceplaya, owner of Duceplaya Music), Michael Mattison (Exiyle, owner of Exiyle Records), and Randon Stevenson.
Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
My biggest inspirations are my mother and father, Smokey Robinson Force, Prince, Michael Jackson, and many more. I’m a lover of real music. I look up to myself and underground artists that have put their heart and soul to bring the real meaning of music back.
How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
I don’t really care for the music that is coming out today. The ones I can understand have no substance to me personally. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hating or judging their music; it’s just not for me.
