“I mostly look up to Coatbridge artist WEE-D as he’s from same area as me and just all the things he has accomplished and how supportive he has been throughout my journey.”
Check out the interview with G-Mo exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
G-Mo: Taking part in school theatre shows was the first time I performed in front of a crowd. That led to performing in talent shows and then writing my own songs and performing gigs weekly.
What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
If you’re good at it, keep doing it.
What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
Getting noticed is the hardest challenge. Putting so much work into your music for it only to be heard by a couple of hundred people max is pretty devastating.
We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
The best way to promote music has to be social media. The views keep going up the more you share your content as every time it’s shared someone new will spot it most likely.
Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
Coatbridge is quite a small area with a lot of talented musicians, not so much rappers, although one of the most known Scottish rappers WEE-D is originally from Coatbridge also.
Where do you see yourself a year from today?
Hopefully performing in bigger venues with bigger crowds.
Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
I look up to many people in music. I mostly look up to Coatbridge artist WEE-D as he’s from same area as me and just all the things he has accomplished and how supportive he has been throughout my journey. He also thinks very highly of me and motivates and inspires with his music.
How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
There are many new styles of hip hop branching out recently and I feel the production’s expanding to a bigger audience but the vocals are driving them away.
