“To all the young kids I would just suggest that you build a team of strong minded individuals who want this just as bad as you do. Once that’s set, go at it full force as best as you know how.”
Check out the interview with FirstClass Music exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
Juice of FirstClass Music: We consists of 5 Individuals: Skyy Phreshh (artist), Scottie Phreshh (artist), Armani “New Kid Beats” Hughes (producer), Dionte Gray (assistant manager), and myself (project manager). Motivated by poverty and inner city challenges we decided to express what we go through via songs and visuals. We released our first single “Mary J” in September of 2015 which received a lot of major local blog write ups and shows. That song kind of put us on.
What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
To all the young kids I would just suggest that you build a team of strong minded individuals who want this just as bad as you do. Once that’s set, go at it full force as best as you know how. And don’t stop. Make sure you love it and that you have fun with it also. That’s really important.
What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
I wouldn’t say that we’ve faced any hard challenges. We know that this is a learning process and we’ve definitely been learning.
We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
Social media. As a team we use all of our individual social media outlets. We even reached out to some radio stations and some music bloggers who really rocked with us like Basement Made, Riverwest Radio, Rapcine, etc. We just push our music and our image.
Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
Milwaukee is really cool. There are underground chefs, videographers, skateboarders, photographers, and promoters. Milwaukee is filled with untapped potential. Our fans/supporters are the shit. We call them the “Pilots.”
Where do you see yourself a year from today?
I don’t like to predict the future or anything. I prefer to just go day by day and observe as I go. A year from now I would hope that I’m somewhere happy, laughing, and spreading the FirstClass Movement.
Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
Life has been very inspiring lately. The idea that I can live out the life that I choose for myself is inspiration in itself. I don’t look up to anybody nowadays besides my team. FirstClass really makes me want to become the best person I can be.
How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
Do I like it? No. Do I find it entertaining? Yes.
Where can we contact you and find you online?
