“My advice to upcoming artists and musicians trying to reach success is to be you and let the lyrics fall onto the page. Too many people are concerned about writing about a certain subject and force the process of writing.”

Skilly: How were you able to start your journey in the entertainment business? Where did this all start?
De4dwolf: I first started when I was younger when I was posting gaming and other types of videos on my old YouTube channel. My mom and family have always been supportive and helped me get the necessary equipment I needed. That’s when I contemplated if I wanted to be a gamer recording videos or if I wanted to be serious about rapping.
What are some of the creative ways you use to promote your music?
I study other known or even independent rappers and study their techniques to find what makes them the rapper they are, just to be able to catch some of these new age hip hop fans ears.
What is the greatest challenge you face in today’s entertainment business? How do you overcome them?
You never know whose lives you can change with a song. It’s very powerful and that’s why I take my music serious. I take real experiences and put them into my music and that’s what I believe helps me overcome the challenge in the entertainment business and my struggle keeps me hustling my dreams.
How is the music scene like in your hometown? What do you like about it and what don’t you like?
I like that the music scene around me is quite distinct. I feel not too many artists really put themselves out there. I don’t like how people feel so belittled to the point where they don’t want to really give it a shot and try their best. Everyone should chase their own paths and dreams because you truly never know the results until you give it your all.
Where do you think the future of music is going to be? How do you feel artists can be more a part of it?
I think the future of music will be even bigger than it ever has or will be with the technology that’s coming out nowadays and the internet playing a very huge part in the spread of many different types of music across the world. It only seems to grow bigger and bigger and that’s when I believe independent artists come in and save the real true meaning of hip hop music.
What advice can you give to other upcoming artists and musicians trying to achieve success?
My advice to upcoming artists and musicians trying to reach success is to be you and let the lyrics fall onto the page. Too many people are concerned about writing about a certain subject and force the process of writing. Don’t be one of those artists/musicians if you truly want to achieve success because you can’t be afraid to follow your heart.
What inspires you to write your next song?
My burning passion and certain feelings that tell me to keep going and to stay focused and keep my momentum going while I have some. I literally wake up every day and try to figure out new styles and ways to rap to catch more people’s attention.
What are the steps you take to make a song?
I’ll be in my room and I’ll listen to a wide variety of instrumentals and if I find one I like I’ll either start writing brand new lyrics or try rapping some stuff I already have written. I also like to try to rap over beats I don’t believe I can really rap over just for practice.
What do you think makes a great song?
The greatest thing in my opinion that makes an amazing track is when you take raw emotions and pour them into a song and you really feel a vibe from the sound.
