“Today’s music is currently evolving into something new and although we don’t particularly like everything that’s being released, we respect each artist individually when it comes to their hustle and drive towards their goals and dreams.”
Check out the interview with Conceptz exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
SKILLY: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
CONCEPTZ: Conceptz was formed in 2011 when my brother and I (Highrowglyphfix & Short Fuze) decided to do music together after a late night discussion about music. We decided to write a few songs collaboratively and the rest is history.
What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
Never give up! Don’t be afraid to take a chance because you never know what can happen.
What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
Building a fanbase. It took us years to build an engaging/interactive fan base. Also keeping and expanding that fanbase is also a task within itself and I feel like the more you succeed, the harder you have to work.
We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
Social Media. Promotion and marketing have changed over the course of the last few years especially with the creation of social media platforms. It networks and connects people all across the world and for us, although it took us a long time to succeed in building a fanbase, we still feel its the best way to gain peoples attention and share our music to the world.
Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
Our city has somewhat of a music scene, but not as big as big major cities. Our fanbase is limited where we’re located, but the ones that are around are very attentive and supportive. The town we live in is quiet and serene and music would definitely broaden the spectrum of people and the art they create.
Where do you see yourself a year from today?
We see ourselves creating better, timeless music and vivid visuals. We want to improve our songwriting and possibly get into the business of writing music for other artists other than ourselves. We just want to evolve as artists and transform the societal standards of what it means to be an artist/lyricist.
Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
We look up to our parents, close friends and fans to help us through these times of hardships. We use their guidance and works to help us become better people not just artists. As long as we have them, we can do anything.
How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
Today’s music is currently evolving into something new and although we don’t particularly like everything that’s being released, we respect each artist individually when it comes to their hustle and drive towards their goals and dreams.
