“I just want hip hop/rap to stay alive. I want music to stay real and true. Actually put a pen to paper and think.”
Check out the interview with C.E.O. Da APEX exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: How were you able to start your journey in the entertainment business? Where did this all start?
C.E.O. Da APEX: Growing up as a kid I just always loved music. It started as freestyling to favorite rappers’ songs on the radio, then over time I wanted to tell my own story and start my own legacy.
What are some of the creative ways you use to promote your music?
Not really creative, just performances. And Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
What is the greatest challenge you face in today’s entertainment business? How do you overcome them?
Recognition motives me to do 110% instead of my best.
How is the music scene like in your hometown? What do you like about it and what don’t you like?
It’s on a slow rise, but we till struggle with supporting our hometown artists. We’d rather them go somewhere else and get popping then bring the fame to the city. That’s what I don’t like, but what I do like is knowing that someone has talent and awaiting for the world to discover it.
Where do you think the future of music is going to be? How do you feel artists can be more a part of it?
I just want hip hop/rap to stay alive. I want music to stay real and true. Actually put a pen to paper and think.
What advice can you give to other upcoming artists and musicians trying to achieve success?
Never, ever give up on your dreams. Life’s too short to fear failure and not know how to take a loss.
What inspires you to write your next song?
Little freestyles and a certain mood.
What are the steps you take to make a song?
I seclude myself, I come up with my best work whenever I’m in my best element and that’s being alone. Mainly so I can get and keep myself in that mood or feeling for the song.
What do you think makes a great song?
Just taking your time with it and really putting for effort.
Where can we connect with you? Can you give us your social media links and where we can contact you?
