“Love and find yourself before you make any big decisions in life. Don’t rely on people’s opinions, but on your conscience; consequently, you will eternally encounter and experience joy.”
Check out the interview with Blazarus exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
Blazarus: Long story short after I found myself, I discovered that the music industry has and always has been my biggest passion. My aunt was a singer in a merengue/salsa band in Dominican Republic and my biological brother, Kevin Nunez, is a music teacher so it is in our genes. I officially started making music on July 2016 by simply finding YouTube beats that suited my area of interest and went on how my soul felt.
What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
Love and find yourself before you make any big decisions in life. Don’t rely on people’s opinions, but on your conscience; consequently, you will eternally encounter and experience joy.
What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
I would say the hardest challenges are having faith that my music will go as big as I have envisioned it. Also, making sure that my profit is higher than my investments. The hardest tasks are making sure that I stay humble throughout my music career and adhere to make music for myself or an audience of one like Russell Wilson does when he plays football.
We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
I believe that if you deeply feel like your art is creditable to be known, people will come to you instead. As far as promoting and advertising goes, you must be willing to invest to profit on your art towards music networks like Soundzone that you can rely and trust that they may promote and advertise your art.
Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
Dalton, Georgia is on the Southside near Atlanta where big time artists inspire and motivate us to make valuable or turn up music. The fans are wild especially in Athens and Atlanta, so it’s always exhilarating to be around the Southside. Dalton I’d say is an area of love and support plus a city that is very safe to live in.
Where do you see yourself a year from today?
I see myself reaching high heights with a record label and being featured in many different singles or albums by major artists like Lecrae, Andy Mineo, Social Club Misfits, or any others that are willing to contribute on making music together.
Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
Ultimately, Jesus Christ is my biggest inspiration, and he grants me the people and things that I should study and listen to. I look up to all the artists from Reach Records, NF, Russell Wilson, Stephen Curry, Jay-Z, Lil-Yachty, Eminem, Json, Desiigner, UnoTheActivist, and many others.
How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
I love it. A lot of people hate on the new music that is out today, but that’s because they don’t really spend time on searching for the right music plus they judge it without realizing that music is art. In my opinion, the music industry now is better than ever.
