“Honestly, those who doubted me were my biggest inspirations. They kept me pushing harder and harder toward success. They continue to inspire me. I was inspired to prove to them I am a force in this industry.”

Check out the interview with BIGRyAT exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.

Skilly: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
BIGRyAT:
I have always been rapping and dancing. I was a Krump King and did battles and traveled as a krumper. T-Pain spotted me on YouTube and contacted me. From there I went on to be his hype man/dancer for about 4 years. I continued to do hip hop shows for my rapping and workshops for dancing.

What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
Never be afraid to dream big. Be different. Most of all always be yourself. Believe in your dreams and go for it.

What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
For me the hardest thing is to continuously stay relevant. Building my brand and my name is something I do all the time. It is important to keep your name and music out there for people to enjoy.

We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
The best way to promote and advertise my music is by being present at events, both dancing and concerts. I promote on all social media. I have a website that is seen worldwide. I do interviews like this and am a part of internet radio as well as iTunes and any internet site selling my music.

Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
My city loves hip hop and street dancers. The fans and artists support one another. The fans are loyal to those they enjoy. My krump family and my hip hop family support both of my interests.

Where do you see yourself a year from today?
I see myself touring more and getting more International venues. I see myself continuing to grow my brand. I see myself traveling and getting my music before more people.

Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
Honestly, those who doubted me were my biggest inspirations. They kept me pushing harder and harder toward success. They continue to inspire me. I was inspired to prove to them I am a force in this industry. I will never quit. I look up to people who stay consistent with their music. I look up to those who do not stay stuck in the same place musically and physically.

How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
I like some of the music coming out today. I think much of the mainstream music has lost the storytelling part of a song. Every artist has a story to tell and a lot of underground artists tell that but not so much mainstream.
