The couple announced their separation in a joint statement via their reps. “They both deeply care for each other and remain close friends. We kindly ask that the media respect their wish for privacy regarding this personal matter at this time.”
Grande, 21, and Sean, 27, began dating in August 2014. The singer confirmed their relationship in an October interview with the U.K.’s Telegraph Magazine, saying: “He is one of the most amazing men in the whole world, and that includes my grandfather and my brother. I think the world of him, and he’s an amazing person. That’s kind of all there is to it.”
They even shared photos of each other together on vacation, including an escape to Lake Tahoe back in January.
According to Us Weekly, the couple broke up quietly a few weeks ago. “They made the decision to part ways because their conflicting touring schedules would keep them apart over the next year,” says an insider.
