“The people around me. To see them believe in makes me believe in myself two times more.”
Check out the interview with Benjamin Fly exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.
Skilly: Tell us where this all began. What is your history in the music scene?
Benjamin Fly: My love for music started when I was 15-16 years old. Some friends and I started recording songs on my buddy Perry’s computer and karaoke mic taking some of our favorite instrumentals that we could find.
What are the best ways to promote yourself as an artist? Any tips you can give us?
Networking! Meeting new people and connecting with the fans is key.
What do you ultimately want to become in your career?
Start a record label, get into writing To shows and maybe movies.
What is the hardest thing about being in the music business?
Like in any business, the money! You have to constantly keep investing into yourself.
What is it like in your city? What is the music scene like, and how is it like living there overall?
Hot! I’m in Phoenix, AZ right now and have been for about a year. The hip hop scene’s slowly building but building more than others I would say. The state made a national hip hop day for AZ in November.
What are some of advice you can give and share to other artists who are still trying to come up?
Invest in yourself. Don’t wait for somebody else too!
What is the best thing that’s ever happened in your career?
The shows! They keep getting better and better. Ask me this question in 10 years.
What is your inspiration?
The people around me. To see them believe in makes me believe in myself two times more.
Do you feel anyone can be successful now in today’s world of music?
Where can we find you on social media?
